Almost 82% of delhiites practice hindu religion followed by 13% muslims practising islam. The public holidays of delhi for the new year 2017 is mostly hindu religion related.

Each year the calendar holidays for the Government of the National Capital of Delhi is notified by the General Administration Department. The Notification is depended on sec. 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act – 1881. The historical calendar of Saka Era corresponding to the Julian Year 78 is otherwise known as Shaika Era or Shalvahana.

January 26 is when the city of Delhi celebrates Indian Republic Day Parade year after year. It commemorates the day when the country of India’s constitution was constituted. One of the largest and vast significant parade is Delhi Republic Day Parade celebrated for 3 days throughout the region. This national holiday 2017 also observes the Flag Hoisting Ceremony by an honoured guest mostly the President of India raising the flag.
