Manipur or Kangleipak or also called Sanaleibak borders with the indian states of Mizoram, Nagaland, Assam and the country of Myanmar. It is situated on the north eastern part of india. During british raj this princely state went negotiation to form part of India instead of Burma.
The state of manipur composes both hindu and christian religon equally i.e., the population rate is 41.4 and 41.3 percent. Hence the celebration holidays are prepared over the religious aspect of both hindu and christian. The special harvest holiday is gaun nagi is also the Festival of the Winter Season. The native tribe celebrate this festival as Lui Ngai-Ni. THe naga tribe see this celebration as seed sewing festival.
ONly least holidays for muslims are allowed here and the most one is idul fitra or ramadan witnessing the end of ramzan month. Other lunar calendar hindu festival is Saijibu Nongmapanba and festival of Yaosang, which is 6-day spring celebration. The public holidays of Manipur falls on New Year’s Day, Good Friday & New Year’s Eve where the banks, business, schools everyting closes.
