Mizoram has its geographical location sharing borders with Tripura, Manipur, Assam, Bangladesh and Burma or Myanmar. Mizoram is beautifully called as the “land of the hill people.” Formed as UT in 1972 from Assam and later turning as a state in the year 1987. Mizoram is fully a tribal populated state as because 95% of population are tribes which is the highest in India.
The governor of the state approves the Public holidays in Mizoram for any upcoming new year. With two various holidays are categorized for the state of mizoram. Of which in the one of the list of holidays where the government, banks & schools go closing for celebration. And the festivals included are Missionary Day, (a holiday that observed over the arrival of 2 Welsh missionaries forming the Presbyterian Church), Diwali the Festival of Lights. Apart from that Indian Republic Day, Independence Day & Mahatma Ghandi’s birthday are considered as public holidays. Other religious holidays like Good Friday and Christmas too announced as Mizoram public holidays 2017.
The two restricted holidays for Government employees of mizoram are permitted to select holidays from Pongal, Bahag Bihu. Easter sunday for christians and milad-un-nabi for muslims are form one among the public holidays of mizoram province.
